Montgomery County Water Control & Improvement District No. 1 (WCID #1) has proudly served the Timber Lakes and Timber Ridge communities since its establishment on June 15, 1964, under the Texas Water Code, Chapter 51. In 1978, the District was converted into a Municipal Utility District under Chapters 49 and 54, expanding its role in providing essential water and wastewater services.

Our mission is to finance, construct, own, and operate the utility infrastructure that delivers safe, reliable, and affordable services to our residents. With two water treatment plants, four groundwater wells, and a wastewater treatment facility, WCID #1 ensures the sustainability and efficiency of the community’s utility systems.
Governed by a five-member elected Board of Directors, the District operates with transparency, accountability, and a commitment to maintaining quality services at reasonable costs.

History of WCID #1
Founded on June 15, 1964, Montgomery County WCID #1 was created to ensure that the families of Timber Lakes and Timber Ridge could count on clean, affordable water service. Today, the District continues that mission by managing a strong and reliable system of water and wastewater facilities.
Facilities Operated by the District:
- Water Plant No. 1: 250,000-gallon elevated storage tank; two wells (750 gpm & 1,000 gpm).
- Water Plant No. 2: 800,000-gallon ground storage tank; two wells (1,000 gpm each); 20,000-gallon hydropneumatics tank; three booster pumps (1,000 gpm each).
- Wastewater Treatment Plant: 950,000 gallons per day capacity.
Stormwater from the District drains into Spring Creek and Panther Creek, with Montgomery County Precinct 3 overseeing drainage maintenance.
